To produce black sgraffito clay pottery is not common in Tonalá, but thanks to the Mateos family work, the only family that actually works with this technique in Jalisco, it has managed to survive for over 6 generations. Rigoberto has dedicated himself to preserve the tradition alive and continue to renew.
